Privacy Policy

CastSense AI ("CastSense," "we," "us") is operated by Anchor Velocity LLC, doing business as CastSense.ai. This policy explains what data CastSense collects during its private tester program, how it's used, and how you can control or delete it.
1. What we collect and why
| Data | What it is | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Tester access code | The code you enter to use CastSense (e.g. one issued to you as a tester). Stored in your browser's local storage on your device. | Identifies your session so your chats, Logbooks, and Tackle Box are saved and reloaded correctly. It is not a username or personal profile. |
| Chat messages | The questions and messages you send to the Coach, and its replies. | Core product function — lets the Coach hold a conversation and lets you revisit past chats ("Threads"). |
| Logbooks & Tackle Box entries | Fishing trip notes and saved gear you choose to enter. | Lets the Coach reference your gear and past trips when answering. This is a feature you opt into by using it. |
| Photos you upload for fish identification | An image you choose to submit to the Coach's photo-ID feature, plus any caption you add. | Sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to identify the species in the photo. The photo itself is not stored by CastSense — it's processed for that one request and discarded on our end. |
| Feedback (thumbs up/down, notes) | Optional reactions and comments you leave on a Coach answer, plus a session identifier and general region/water-type context. | Helps us find and fix wrong or misleading answers. Feedback is not linked to your name or contact info — we don't collect either. |
| Location you type or describe | Place names, water bodies, or coordinates you mention in chat (e.g. "fishing at Lake Okeechobee"). | Used to look up real conditions data (tide, water temperature, buoy readings) for that specific spot. CastSense does not access your device's GPS or location services — nothing is collected unless you type it. |
2. What we do NOT collect
- No name, email, phone number, or physical address (your access code is not tied to any of these)
- No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics scripts
- No device GPS or precise location — only what you type
- No payment or billing information (CastSense is not yet a paid product)
- No sale of your data to anyone, ever
3. Where your data lives
Chat threads, Logbooks, Tackle Box entries, and feedback are stored using Vercel Blob storage, tied to your access code rather than to any personal identity. Photos submitted for fish identification pass through to Anthropic's Claude API for that single request and are not retained by CastSense afterward. Live conditions data (tide, buoy, weather) is pulled from public sources including NOAA CO-OPS, NDBC, and the National Weather Service at the time you ask — we don't build a profile of your locations over time.
4. Who sees your data
Your chats and photos are processed by our AI provider, Anthropic, solely to generate the Coach's replies — Anthropic does not use this data to train its models under our agreement. As founder, Joe Carrigan can review testers' feedback and chat data submitted through the feedback tool to improve the product during this testing phase, since that review is the mechanism for catching wrong answers before any public launch. Outside of that, no CastSense staff, contractor, or third party sees your individual chats.
5. How long we keep it
Threads, Logbooks, and Tackle Box data are retained while your tester code stays active and are subject to storage caps — the oldest entries are trimmed automatically once those caps are reached. Feedback log entries are retained to track product quality over time. You can request full deletion of everything tied to your access code at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security
Access to your data requires your specific tester access code — codes are not guessable and are individually revocable. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, and CastSense is an early-stage product still being hardened; we ask testers not to submit sensitive personal information beyond what's needed to test the fishing-coach experience.
7. Your rights and choices
- Delete your data: Email joe.carrigan@castsense.ai with your access code and we will erase all threads, Logbooks, Tackle Box entries, and feedback tied to that code within 14 days.
- Deactivate your access: Request this at the same address; your code will be marked inactive and can no longer be used to log in.
- Export your data: Email the same address and we will send you a copy of the data tied to your access code in a readable format.
8. Children's privacy
CastSense is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used CastSense, contact us and we'll delete the associated data.
9. Changes to this policy
As CastSense moves from testing toward public launch — including adding real user accounts, payment, or broader distribution — this policy will change to reflect that, and we'll notify active testers before those changes take effect.
